BEETHOVEN HOMECOMING

BEETHOVEN HOMECOMING
As with many other masterpieces, Few were the privileged who could hear the premiere of Beethoven's revolutionary symphonies in their original form. The fame of  music masterpieces before the advent of recording and reproduction systems was only spread through their arrangements.
Hundreds of music lovers and amateur interpreters were subscriptors to editions of all kinds of arrangements and instrumentations often done by the same composers, their students by the editors, performing these versions of the great works in small concerts during social gatherings in salons and cafe’s
This was the case of Hans Sitt's version of Ludwig van Beethoven's symphonies for violin and piano of 1886. The arrangement turns these masterpieces of the orchestral repertoire into small pills, tiny delicatessen, however packed with all colours and affects of the original version.
