Rethinking Bach is a music documentary created by Spanish violinist and early music specialist Jorge Jiménez, in which he takes us in his journey to the centre of some of J.S.Bach’s most celebrated masterpieces in unique arrangements for solo violin.
The first series, formed of four episodes, orbits around the universe of Bach’s Goldberg Variations and the first episode was aired on 12 March 2021. In this first series, Jorge presents to the world his own unaccompanied violin transcription of the variations along with historical context and anecdotes of Bach and his time.
The creation of this series is kindly sponsored by The Arts Council England and has been written, filmed, edited and performed by Jorge Jiménez in its entirety. The four episodes of the first season were filmed during the UK’s third National Lockdown in 2021, amidst the Covid 19 worldwide pandemic. ​
