Three days, three very different encounters with the world of J. S. Bach.
Join internationally acclaimed Baroque violinist Jorge Jiménez for a special weekend celebrating Bach’s extraordinary music, from the intimacy of the solo violin to the colourful and often surprising world in which it was created.
Across two concerts, Jorge performs all six of Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin, presenting the complete cycle in two contrasting programmes. On Saturday evening, join harpist and storyteller Joy Smith for Bach After Dark — an informal evening of stories, music, characters, scandal and the less respectable side of Baroque life.

JORGE JIMENEZ
Jorge Jiménez is a Spanish violinist recognised for his expressive artistry and versatility, performing repertoire from the Middle Ages to the present day. Founder and director of Tercia Realidad and first violin of ensembles such as L’Arpeggiata and Forma Antiqva, he has appeared worldwide as soloist and director, including at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. His discography includes releases on Atlantic Records, Naxos, Hyperion, Pan Classics and GWK Records, with highlights such as Lunaris (2021) and El violín de Farinelli, winner of the prestigious Sello FestClásica 2023.
